The city growth on the Northern side has reached the edge of the river unlike the southern side which is dominated by agricultural lands surrounding the river. From the history of Beirut, one cannot help but foresee the fate of these agricultural fields which are under the threat of being engulfed by the urban growth.

After thorough analysis, the gradual disappearance of these fertile lands is due to the fact that the human layer is missing. In order for the city to meet with its need to expand, we should allow for this expansion but in a merging way whereby these agricultural lands coincide with and enter the city.

The emergence of these lands within the city could happen in the empty open spaces found around the area, the parking spaces, as well as some roofs of buildings, giving these spaces multi-functional and aesthetic properties.

Doing so would provide educational benefits on agriculture for the dwellers improving the socioeconomic aspect of this peri-urban area and its recreational status.
