BOTANICAL GARDEN _________________________________________________
AREC, located in the rural Bekaa -north of Lebanon, is a unique campus characterized by its important qualities, one of which is the fact that it is a research center farm. The thorough study, in team work, of all the dimensions of this campus ranging from ground material and different planting patterns and their uses to the annual visitors it gets and its relationship with the urban city Beirut dwellers - gave a platform from unto which a well-thought of design of a botanical garden is crafted.
From this platform, along with my own individual analysis, I was able to design a dynamic botanical garden in a way where the newly introduced but indigenous plant varieties, as well as the sculpting of the land forming different types of spaces, break the monotony of colors, textures, and flatness of the land.
As the city dweller visitor enjoyably strolls around the hidden islands of different plant communities, the indigenous plants, their names, importance and their effects on us and the surrounding ecosystems are left imprinted in him as an experience to be mirrored in the urban city.
